The Add to segment action adds a user to a chosen segment automatically when the user triggers the block during the chat.

ChatBot automatically collects all the users who chat with your bot and stores their data in the Users section. Segments allow the creation of lists that can be utilized in marketing campaigns, databases, and more. You can check the state of the segments in the Users section by filtering the list.

You can export data collected in Segments via .CSV file and manage them using external applications, or edit in spreadsheets.

Using this action in the bot flow has two parts:

  • the segment creation so the bot has a place to save the user

  • adding the user to the segment - the bot will add the user to the action automatically when the block is triggered during the chat.

You can check the whole bot’s path and what steps the user needs to take to be saved in the segment in the Testing tool.

  1. To create a segment, go to Account Settings, click the Add segment button, and follow the steps.

  2. In the bot builder, drag the Add to segment block to the bot flow. Click to edit and choose the segment from the list.

It doesn’t matter whether you add the Add to segment block at the beginning of the path, in the middle of it, or at the end. When the chat is finished, the user who completes a particular path will be added to a chosen segment.
